Welcome!
This blog is for me to share all things related to my experiences as a pre-service teacher.
My name is Emybeth Vogel and I didn't always want to become a teacher. I graduated in 2011 from Roncalli High School in Wisconsin and moved to Florida to study nursing at the University of South Florida. Before I could even begin any of my classes, I realized I wasn't in love with nursing. Teaching seemed out there, but I thought I might as well try. I worked hard my freshmen year of college and the summer before my sophomore year I was accepted into the Teacher Residency Partnership Program (TRPP). I knew it would be hard, but didn't realize how demanding it was going to be and how flexible I was going to have to learn to be.
This program has taught me everything I know and I've had so many great experiences that I do not think I would have gotten otherwise. Last year alone, during my level 1 and level 2 internship, we interned for 700+ hours (I think). I was in a first grade classroom with a very organized CT. She was the sweetest and did everything in her power to help her students learn and grow. I love every day of that experience and learned so much from her. I decided to switch CTs this year to get a new experience in a new grade level. I am now just starting in third grade with a male CT. It is a new experience and the jokes and sarcasm never cease to amaze me. I'm learning more and more everyday.
I will be graduating this year, May 2014, a year ahead of schedule. I could not imagine my life going any other way right now and could not have made it through this past year + without the 22 other girls in the TRPP and our wonderful Partnership Resource Teachers (PRTs).
So, feel free to follow me on on this journey of my life as a level 3 intern in a Title I, Renaissance school. There are new surprises and learning experience every single day.
